Semi-synthetic cupping lubricant for the aluminum can-making industry.
BONDERITE® L-FM SNL-3 (previously known as DTI SNL-3 CUPPER) is a semi-synthetic cupper lubricant that prevents wear, eliminates bleed-through, and provides superior lubrication during aluminum cup manufacturing. It is engineered to perform in a variety of cupping processes, ensuring that each step in the production line maintains optimal efficiency and quality. Its precise formulation caters specifically to the needs of the aluminum can industry, allowing for clean operations that result in high-quality aluminum cans without interior impurities. To optimize the performance of BONDERITE® L-FM SNL-3, it is recommended to integrate Henkel's DTI series of post lubricants and bodymaker lubricants in the process, which further assists in achieving unrivaled metal control and lubrication, ensuring that every aluminum can meets stringent manufacturing standards.
The application process typically goes as follows:
BONDERITE® L-FM SNL-3 is added to the day or supply tank.
An in-line heater is sometimes used between the tank and injectors.
A thin and uniform layer of BONDERITE® L-FM SNL-3 is applied via a neat oil applicator system to both sides of the aluminum coil surface.
The cupper stroke counting system is adjusted to the desired cup weight (15-30 mg/cup).
The lubricated aluminum sheet is fed to the cupper press using feed rolls.
The sheet is blanked, forming a disc, and then drawn to form a cup.
Cups are sent to the bodymakers for redrawing and ironing.
