Documents

Product Overview

BONDERITE® M-ZN 196X (also known as BONDERITE® 196X) is a zinc phosphating agent for metal surface preparation prior to cold forming processes. BONDERITE® M-ZN 196X® applies a zinc phosphate coating onto steel surfaces to provide surface protection and lubricant retention during cold forming operations. After it has been applied to the steel rod or wire, the phosphate coating reduces metal-on-metal contact when the part is drawn to extend tool life and prevent part corrosion and breakage. The lubricant retention capability of the coating also contributes to a more stable and efficient friction management system, which allows for faster drawing speeds. By ensuring consistent protection across the treated metal surface, BONDERITE® M-ZN 196X effectively reduces the occurrence of defects, ensuring a higher yield of quality parts. The recommended starting treat rate is 2.5 gallons of product in a 100 gallon bath.
